Saucony, the award-winning performance brand worn by today’s elite runners, recently hit the Visayan shores with the introduction of its racing flats Type A6 and Fastwitch 6, a groundbreaking advancement for runners and multi-sport athletes everywhere, at the Ironman 70.3 Philippines held in Cebu.  The triathlon race is one of the biggest in Asia participated by thousands of triathletes from around the globe.

Team Herbalife and Team TriMac are two of the top triathlon teams in the nation that officially wear Saucony. Triathletes from both teams wore the Type A6 and Fastwitch 6 Saucony racing flats for this race. Brian Borling and Lezette Albarote, Saucony athletes from Team Herbalife, emerged as the Fastest Filipino and Filipina Age Groupers in this year’s Ironman 70.3. Brian finished the race with a total running time of 4:54:01 and Lezette with 5:30:33. The duo received the Datu Lapu Lapu and Reyna Bulakna awards respectively.

“[It was] love at first sight with the Saucony Type A6. It’s light, flexible, comfortable, and [it comes] in bright colors,” says Lezette. “I tried it for the first time in Tri United 2 without socks and I did not experience bruised heels, which usually happens when I try on new shoes without any socks. I wore the Type A6 again in the recent Ironman 70.3 and I couldn’t be more happier with my run split.”

While Lezette was able to try her Type A6 prior to the Ironman 70.3, Brian wore his pair of Fastwitch 6 for the first time on the day of the race. “I love the Fastwitch 6! I got the shoes a day before the Ironman event and used it straight from the box, but it felt so great to run in it,” says Brian. “It’s so light that it is good for any distance. It kept me running until I reached the finish line [and] after the race, my legs were still good for another run.”

Saucony’s racing flats were showcased in the triathlon expo at the Shangri-la Mactan’s Marquee Hall. The marketing manager of Saucony Precy Santos shares,“We’re very happy to be on board once again for this event to support the triathletes and our brand ambassadors. Saucony is increasingly becoming the top choice among the elite athletes in the Philippines over the past year and as more athletes demand for Saucony, we intend to support more events such as the Ironman 70.3 to help our athletes run better, faster, and achieve their personal record.”

The perfect combination of lightweight and responsiveness, the Type A6 is designed for better acceleration, sustain fast speed, and trim seconds off your personal record. The improved FlexFilm helps maintain support and reduce weight in the upper, while the new iBR+ forefoot rubber improves the reaction time you need for quicker turnover.

Meanwhile, Saucony’s light and stable Fastwitch 6 is designed for the road warriors ready to take their race to the next level. Key features of the shoe include a FlexFilm upper for improved fit, flexibility without added weight, and has additional support to maintain the runner’s momentum. It also boasts water drainage ports in the midsole, allowing quick water discharge when the shoe becomes wet or submerged.

Saucony racing flats and the rest of Saucony’s award-winning shoe models and apparel are available at the Saucony store located at the 2nd flr of Glorietta 3 in Makati City and specialty retailers: Runnr in Bonifacio High Street and Trinoma, Toby’s Mall of Asia, major SM Department Stores nationwide, and Robinsons Place Manila Department Store.
