Santiago-Marcos Tandem Possible for 2016 Polls
Laoag (PNA) — Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos expressed elation over the possible tandem of Sen. Miriam Santiago and her brother, Sen. Bongbong Marcos in the 2016 polls.
Santiago announced her plans to seek for presidency and bared that she would have a runningmate but declined to reveal the identity.
“Senator Miriam indicated na si Bongbong daw ang gusto niya at nakapagfile na raw…first time ko marinig, nagulat naman ako at tuwang-tuwa [Sen. Miriam hinted that she wanted Bongbong to be her runningmate. It’s my first time to hear about that and I’m glad she’s considering my brother],” said the lady governor in an interview.
She added that meetings and discussions are ongoing about the possible tandem.
She said her brother has always been “one of the favorite colleagues of Senator Santiago in the Senate.”
Sen. Marcos filed his certificate of candidacy as vice president on Monday, Oct. 12.
“Si Bongbong ulila pa rin… Hanggang ngayon wala pa ring partido, kasi medyo nagkakagulo sa NP [Nacionalista Party] dahil tatlo-tatlo ang vice president at yung KBL [Kilusang Bagong Lipunan] naman sinisigurado muna namin kung paano dahil may issues sa registration ng iba’t ibang kandidato [Bongbong has no party yet because there are some issues within NP and KBL],” said Marcos.
The governor also expressed her gratitude to all Ilocanos who have already shown their support to the 2016 political bid of her brother. (PNA)JMC/LGA
