Sandigan Suspends Arrest vs Martinez et al

The Sandiganbayan has suspended the implementation of the arrest warrant issued against former Congresswoman Clavel Asas-Martinez, her son Tining and five others.

The former Congresswoman, her son former Mayor Celestino “Tining” Martinez III, her daughter Ma. Cielo A. Martinez, who was the the GSP treasurer, former municipal treasurer Rhett Minguez, municipal treasurer Rhett Minguez, municipal accountant Cresencio Verdida, bookkeeper Rhodariza Kilantang and GSP Cebu Council cashier Julieta Quino were still, however, at large.

The National Bureau of Investigation 7 had been locating the three after the Sandiganbayan released their warrants of arrest last month after it found probable cause to the graft and malversation of public fund cases filed against them.

The Office of the Ombudsman filed the said cases before the Sandiganbayan against them for allegedly keeping P10 million in public funds in Clavel’s private account. The said funds were supposedly for the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP).
