San Carlos City Gets 4th SGLG Award
San Carlos City received its fourth Seal of Good Local Governance award from the Department of Interior and Local Government, November 7.
San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo Valmayor Jr. received the city’s 2018 SGLG from DILG Secretary Eduardo Año and Senator Loren Legarda with DILG Negros Occidental officials at the Manila Hotel Tent City, Manila.
Valmayor said that San Carlos City always welcome challenges that would measure its capabilities, especially in providing the needs of its people because it is only through these challenges that the city can improve more and become more efficient in its service delivery.
San Carlos City is getting the SGLG award every year since 2015.
Aside from the Seal, DILG also awarded Valmayor with the “Katangi-tanging Pagpupugay sa Lokal na Pamahalaan sa Pagsasakatuparan ng Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).
For Negros Occidental, based on the DILG facebook page, the cities of San Carlos, Silay and Victorias as well as the town of Binalbagan were awarded the Seal besting the assessment criteria of the SGLG despite its raise from “4+1” to “all-in”.
This new “All-in” assessment criteria of SGLG is another innovation that is expected to demonstrate positive results from LGUs further pushing the Department’s objective for excellence and continuous improvement of local governance.
This proved that having completed the requirements, the LGUs are continuously striving to improve the quality of service to the people. *(EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
