Ruby to Exit PAR Wednesday Night, New LPA Spotted in Pacific Ocean-PAGASA
PAGASA on Wednesday reported that tropical cyclone Ruby (international name Hagupit) has intensified into a tropical storm and continues to move away from the country.
At 4 am, Ruby was estimated at 370 km west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, and was moving westwards at 20 kph, PAGASA added. Ruby had maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center, with gusts of up to 80 kph, it added.
Rains
PAGASA forecast said Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos Region will be cloudy with light rain on Wednesday due to the northeast monsoon.
It added that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Strong to gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon and Tropical Cyclone Ruby will affect the seaboards of northern and Central Luzon, it said.
The Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Ilocos province, La Union, Pangasinan and Isabela seaboards 3.4 to five meters high waves while Aurora, Zambales and Bataan’s seaboards will waves as high as 3.4 to 4.5 meters.
PAGASA advised small seacraft against sailing over these affected seas.
New LPA Spotted
PAGASA Benison Estareja, in an interview over GMA’s dzBB radio, said that Ruby had accelerated and is now expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Wednesday night.
Estareja added that Ruby is now heading for Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the weather service has spotted a new low-pressure area over the Pacific Ocean.
Once it enters the PAR and becomes a cyclone, it will be locally codenamed Seniang, PAGASA said.
