(PNA) — Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas II on Tuesday said he has moral obligation to push the “tuwid na daan” which was started by President Benigno Aquino III to ensure the smooth plight of the Filipino people to compete with neighboring countries in the next six years.

During the national meeting of the Liberal Party (LP) at Gloria Maris Restaurant in Greenhills, San Juan City, Roxas said his vision is now translated to mission.

“Ito ay isang misyon, misyon nating lahat na kailangan natin na ipagkaloob sa ating anak, sa ating mga kababayan ang pinaka maganda, ang pinaka mahusay na Pilipinas na magagawa natin para sa kanila,” Roxas told hundreds in attendance at the LP national meeting.

He even recalled that when he first aim to run in 2009, he is excited and ambitious.

But, he later decided to give the chance to his old high school friend, President Benigno Aquino III after feeling that he has the better chance to win in the 2010 elections and decided to slide down.

He pointed out that his ambitious vision in 2009 is now a mission to serve the Filipino people and leave an unforgettable legacy to our children.

He even courted all attendees to help him achieve his goal and assure that the “Tuwid na Daan” will continue in the next six years.

“I have absolutely no doubt. This is a fight worth fighting. Sinabi ko nuong biyernes, ibubuhos ko ang lahat para sa daang matiwid. Wala akong ititira para sa sarili ko. Sa tulong ninyo, sa tulong ng mga boss natin, walang kaduda-duda na ipapanalo natin ang daang matuwid,” the DILG Secretary stressed.

The event was graced by no less than President Aquino who surprised everyone. The presidents of Leagues of Municipalities, League of Governors, the city mayors and even the league of barangay captains were present who also expressed support to Roxas.

The coalition of political parties were also present like the National Unity Party (NUP), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Party lists like Ako Bicol, Akbayan, Yacap, 1-Care, A teachers, COOP-NATCO, among others.

He said the recent TSONA of Vice President Jejomar Binay is highly expected that he will use old tricks in politics like mud-slinging but he vowed that he will not stoop down to that level and instead, place the modern campaign into higher level by revealing his platform and what the people will expect should he won the election.
