Road Closure in Manila for Traslacion 2018

The Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit issued an advisory for the closure of some roads on January 8 and 9 in observance of this year’s ‘Traslacion’ or procession of the Black Nazarene:

January 8, 2018 – 10 p.m.:

Katigbak Drive and South Drive (one lane – accessible to Manila and H2O Hotel)

Northbound Lane of Quezon and Mc Arthur Bridge from Bonifacio Shrine onwards

Taft Avenue from Ayala Boulevard to Bonifacio Shrine

January 9, 2018 – 12 a.m.:

Stretch of Mc Arthur, Jones, and Quezon Bridge

Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to T.M. Kalaw Street

Both lanes of Quezon Boulevard (Quiapo) will be closed to traffic from A. Mendoza/Fugoso Street and Espana Avenue/P.Campa Street for southbound and from Taft Avenue/Ayala Boulevard for northbound.

Meanwhile, event organizers have designated 12 prayer stations wherein communal prayers would be recited as the carriage of Black Nazarene or “andas” approaches.

There would also be incense and holy water blessing and singing once the andas passes in every station. (EPC/JCP/PIA-NCR)
