Retrenched OFWs Receive Cash Aide
About 25 retrenched Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Saudi Arabia each received P20,000 financial assistance from the Cebu Provincial Government on Monday.
Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale, assisted by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) head Marivic Garces personally handed out the checks.
The OFWs who received the financial assistance were retrenched workers from two construction companies in Saudi Arabia.
The beneficiaries came from the towns of Barili, Consolacion, Dumanjug, Pinamungajan, Minglanilla, Daanbantayan, and cities of Toledo, Danao, Talisay, Naga and Carcar.
Pedro Dayon, 43, a native from Daanbantayan, expressed his gratitude to the Capitol.
“Mapasalamaton kaayo ko kay ang kwarta akong mapuno sa akong gamay nga sari-sari store,” Dayon said.
Working for seven years in Saudi Oger Ltd., Dayon is yet to receive his separation pay. The company recently closed last July.
Dayon is also struggling in finding a new job for over a year now, but still hopeful in landing on an overseas one.
This is the fourth batch of OFWs who received financial aide from the provincial government.
