Results of Impatience
” What have you done?” asked Samuel.
Saul replied, “When I saw that the men were scattering, and that you did not come at the set time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Mikmash, 12 I thought, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the Lord’s favor.’ So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering.” 1 Samuel 13:11-12
God uses life circumstances to develop our patience. Patient waiting is harder than running ahead, but it may keep us from running into disaster. Saul’s impatience (in the verses above) led him to sin, which caused him to lose his kingdom, his reward. Learning to wait is difficult, but the only way to learn patience is to practice it -by waiting! So, let’s be patient in waiting for the favorable promises of God to us and we will see these falling on us at the appointed time.
“Don’t be impatient for the Lord to act! Travel steadily along his path. He will honor you, giving you the land.” Psalm 37:34
