Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has vowed to solve the fate of some 5,000 families in the city who are living in Cebu province-owned lots before he bows out of office.

These families are covered under Cebu Provincial Ordinance 93-1.

Rama said he has committed to Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III to settle the tenurial rights of the settlers before their respective terms will end.

He said the city government now has a PhP500-million budget for the acquisition of province-owned lots covered under Ordinance 93-1.

These lots are located in Barangays Apas, Lahug, Busay, Kamputhaw, Capitol Site, Kalunasan, Lorega, Mabolo and Tejero, all in Cebu City.

Of the PhP500 million, PhP400 million has been set aside under the city’s PhP13.4-billion annual budget this year.

The remaining amount is covered by the annual budget from last year.

Rama said he will meet with the governor soon.

He said the schemes on how the residents will pay the lots will soon be discussed. (PNA) SCS/EB/SSC
