Rama Signs Supplemental EO for Non-Obligatory Facemasks Use
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama signs Executive Order (EO) No. 6 which will supplement the previous EO No. 5 or the executive order on the non-obligatory use of facemasks in Cebu City.
EO No. 6 is titled “An Order Supplementing the Provision of Executive Order No.5 Series of 2022”
It can be remembered that EO No. 5 implementation was deferred by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) a day after Rama signed the said EO.
To supplement EO No. 5, EO No. 6 will make the non-obligatory use facemask automatically lifted if there are surges of COVID-19 infections in the city.
“Consistent with the provisions of existing laws, there is a need to further manage and control the implementation of the said executive order by fixing a specific period of its effectivity and observance as a trial period for its automatic lifting in case of any surge of COVID-19 infection as determined and supported by the indicative to that respect,” the EO reads.
The effectivity of EO No. 6 is from September 1 to December 31, 2022, and is referred to as the trial and observation period. (ASC)
