Rama Attends Traffic at M.Velez, Escario
(Cebu City Public Information Office) – Cebu city Mayor Michael L. Rama personally attended the rush hour traffic situation along M. Velez and N. Escario Street on Monday together with some members of the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (CITOM).
In order to maximize the road so that traffic would be eased, Mayor Rama wanted the island fronting the Capitol building reduced and other obstructions to be taken out.
Rama stressed that a “no left turn” policy will be implemented at the Escario Loop starting today in order to lessen the traffic situation.
He also had a chance to meet some of the staffs of Cebu Governor Hilario “Junjun” Davide III during their flag ceremony in the morning and discussed the plan of the opening of the access road at the back of the Capitol Building to cater all vehicles coming from Lahug heading to Fuente Rotunda.
The mayor also directed CITOM to have the pedestrian crossing painted clearly and strict intersection rules implementation. CITOM was also tasked to reprimand motorcycles that use the sidewalk and also those vehicles that stop right on the pedestrian crossing line.
As this develops, Rama commended CITOM supervisor Malou Alferez for a conscientious management of the traffic situation in the area. Also present during the walk-thru were the Police, CITOM operations officer Joy Tumulak and the PROBE team headed by Racquel Arce. (CCPIO)
