Many parts of the country will continue to experience cloudy and rainy weather due to the effects of southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday.

In its advisory, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat” affecting Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao — which is associated with the occurrence of intermittent to continuous rains — is the prevailing wind system during the rainy season.

For Tuesday forecast, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over western Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula, Caraga and the province of Palawan.

Fair weather with isolated thunderstorms continues to prevail in the rest of the country including Metro Manila.

It added light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be slight to moderate. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
