Rainy Tuesday Due to Trough of LPA — PAGASA

(PNA) — Except in Mindanao, cloudy and rainy weather will prevail in most parts of the country on Tuesday as the low pressure area (LPA) has moved to the Bicol Region, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that as of 4 a.m. the LPA was spotted some 590 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte (14.2ºN, 129.0ºE).

Aurelio said the weather disturbance still has a slim chance to become a tropical depression.

He noted that they expect the cloud bands of the potential cyclone to disorganize in the next few days since it is already near the landmass.

However, even though it is not expected to intensify into a tropical depression, Loiz said the trough or extended cloudiness of the LPA was still projected to bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers in Visayas.

He noted that Metro Manila as well as parts of Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Calabrazon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Bicol Region abd Central Luzon will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light to moderate rains due to the LPA’s cloud bands that extend to these areas.

Aurelio said the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with possible isolated rains because of the localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Aurelio said the state weather bureau continues to monitor a cloud cluster that may intensify into a potential cyclone.

He said the cloud cluster which is still outside the PAR is expected to intensify into a LPA once it enters the country.

He also said once it develops into LPA, this weather disturbance has high chance to intensify into tropical cyclone since it is in the sea.

Once it intensifies into a tropical depression inside the country, it will be locally named “Kanor.”

PAGASA expects three to four cyclones to visit the country this September.

In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail over Visayas and Mindanao and coming from the northeast to north over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the entire archipelago will be slight to moderate.

It added no gale warning was issued as sea travel will be safe for fisherfolk and small seacraft. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
