Rain Reigns, Frontline Services Rages!
The scattered rain showers has failed to stop the Cebu City Government employees and the residents of Sitio Lower Laguerta, Barangay Lahug in rendering and availing of the services respectively during the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” this Thursday morning February 18, 2016.
“Maayo ni ang gibuhat ni Mayor Mike Rama kay dako kaayo ni ug tabang sa mga katawhan labi na sa mga kabos,” shared Lola Nenita Bolo, 63 who availed of the medical consultation in an interview with the BARUGG News.
For Axel Rose Quilantang, 22 who availed of the dental services she enthuses, “Nagpasalamat gyod ko Sir kay natabangan ko nga malibre ang paibot sa ngipon. Nindot ni nga ang mga serbisyo sa gobiyerno nagpaduol na gyod dinhi mismo sa among Sityo ug dili nami mahasol ug moplete pag-adto sa Cebu City Hall.”
Meanwhile, the event kicked off with a Holy Mass which was officiated by Father Murphy Sarsonas from Capitol Parish.
In his homily, the priest pointed out, “Dili gyod kita magmalungtaron ug magmalipayon pinaagi lamang sa ato rang kaugalingon busa mobalik ta sa Ginoo kay siya ang mogiya ug moagni kanato ug hinaot nga atong hatagan ug kinabuhi ang atong pagkabuhi.”
Right after the mass, it was immediately followed by the formal opening of the feasts of free services.
The free services included Medical and Dental Services; Legal Consultation; Real Property Consultation; Repair and Installation of Street Lights and Artesian Wells; Cedula issuance; Seedling distribution; Pet registration and vaccination; Pre-screening on Job Fair and employment referral; Free hair-cutting; Drainage and Road Maintenance; Traffic issues and Concerns consultation; Blood typing, blood sugar testing, and internal medicine distribution; Mass Feeding; Cutting and trimming of trees; Urban Poor Related issues consultation; Seminar and orientation of drug related issues; and Information dissemination, among several others.
Meanwhile, the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” is an initiative of Mayor Rama which he started in the year 2010. It aims to bring the basic services from the 22 Departments comprising the Cebu City Government closer to the people and avail it for free without going to the City Hall.
Today’s frontline services turned out to be a raging success despite the downpour of the rain which caused the venue to be muddy.
During the activity, the personnel from the Philippine Pediatric Society – Central Visayas Chapter Community Pediatrics Hospital Consortium also rendered their services for free.
Some Metro Aides and members of the Barangay Environmental Officers or BEO and the City Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Team or CESET also conducted a Clean-up Drive in the Sitio.
The event successfully ended at around noontime right after everyone were served.
Furthermore, the public service program has become institutionalized and already conducted twice every week. Tomorrow, February 19 Friday it will be held in Barangay Capitol Site which is set beside their Barangay Hall. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
