Radio Anchor Hits KBP Officials

Incumbent officials of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) was lambasted by one of the Cebu radio commentators on Tuesday for their failure to help investigate his shooting case last year.

Newly elected president Jun Arigo of Cebu Association of Media Practitioners (CAMP) Inc. said he was shot wounded by an unidentified man while he was about to ride his car at the parking area of a mall in the north reclamation area, Cebu City in February 15, 2013.

But while he was in the hospital, aside from his few friends and media collegues who spare their time to see him at the hospital bed, nobody from the KBP set of officers has able to visit him and ask about his status.

His hurting experience was even included in his speech during the 30th induction ceremony of CAMP last Saturday at the PAGCOR entertainment hall, at Parkmall, in Mandaue City.

Arigo, a known hard hitting radio commentator, said his case is considered as unsolved because until now nobody could stand to witness in his favor in court.

He was hit by a single bullet at his back by an unidentified gunman whom he suspected as “gun for hire” paid by anybody who was hit by his commentary.

Arigo blamed all KBP officials who never showed their sympathy to what happened to him. However, Arigo paid respect to all media people in the country who celebrated the press freedom.

Last Sunday, a week-long celebration of Press Freedom Week was launched with hundreds of press members from radio, television and newspaper media outlets participated the parade and the entire program of the festivity.

Meanwhile with this yearly Cebu media activities, Cebu Provincial board member Gigi Sanchez remembered her father, former Cebu Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, when she delivered her short speech before the crowd of people who attended the induction of the CAMP new set of officers.

Sanchez, in her statement said she owed everything what she is and what she has now, as far as public service issues are concerned.

Sanchez, one of the invited guests of CAMP, specifically mentioned how her father performed his radio program prior to his demise in 2011.

But before his death, the former vice governor already bought and owned radio station DYDD Bantay Radyo.

Also present during the CAMP activity was Cebu South District Congressman Bebot Abellanosa and former ANAD Partylist Congressman Jun Alcover.
