‘Queenie’ May Make Landfall Wednesday Afternoon, 19 Areas Placed Under Signal No.1
PAGASA said at least 19 areas in Visayas and Mindanao were placed under Storm Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression Queenie moved closer toward eastern Mindanao before noon Wednesday.
The state weather agency said that as of 10 a.m., Tropical Depression Queenie was estimated to be 210 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, GMA News Online reported.
In its 11 a.m. update, PAGASA said Tropical Depression Queenie is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Sur this afternoon and traverse the Northern Mindanao area tonight.”
PAGASA added that by Thursday morning, Queenie may be 35 km north of Dipolog City, and at 105 km west of Puerto Princesa by Friday morning, report said.
Queenie is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday evening, and is forecast to be 710 km west of Puerto Princesa, out in the West Philippine Sea, by Saturday morning, it said.
PAGASA said Queenie packed maximum winds of 45 kph near the center and is forecast to move west at 24 kph.

Queenie may bring moderate to heavy rain (7 to 15 mm per hour) within its 300-km diameter, PAGASA said.
It advised residents in low-lying and mountainous areas under Storm Signal No. 1 as well as the rest of Mindanao to be alert against possible flash floods and landslides.
Fishermen and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA said.
