Queenie Left 12 Casualties, 7,528 Affected – NDRRMC
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Friday at least 12 casualties were recorded while 7,528 were affected by Typhoon Queenie.
In its 6 am update, the Council confirmed at least two deaths – both drowning cases in Cebu, one injured, and nine missing.
The fatalities were identified as:
– Cesar dela Cerna, 59, Lilo-an, Cebu
– Alona Baldado, Malabuyoc, Cebu
Injured was Pachico Galope, 30, of Guindulman, Bohol.
The NDRRMC said that as of the nine persons missing, six were identified. They are the following:
Feleciano Looc, 45, Oslob, Cebu
Adrian Sagrado, 25, Ubay, Bohol
Robinson Cebellos, 32, Jagna, Bohol
Sunny Boy Deguitos, Negros Oriental
Honeylyn Deguitos, Negros Oriental
Jay-an Andales, Tayasan, Negros Oriental
The NDRRMC said that as of Friday records, Queenie had displaced 1,617 families or 7,528 people in Central Visayas, Region 10, and Caraga region. It said that 31 evacuation centers had been set for these families.
At least 103 houses were destroyed while 374 were damaged, it added.
Stranded
The Philippine Coast Guard said that as of 6 am Friday, there were 873 passengers stranded. There were also 23 vessels, 39 rolling cargo ships and 13 motor bangkas.
Reports added that Tampocon Bridge Detour Ayungon in Ayungon town in Negros Oriental is unaccessable becausse of the swollen river.
Cebu
PAGASA Visayas director Oscar Tabada said that while Queenie left Central Visayas, strong winds will still be felt in Cebu on Saturday and Sunday.
Classes that were suspended on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, resumes today.
Sail Again
Coast Guard Station Cebu Commander Rodolfo Villajuan said they allowed marine vessels to sail again to Bohol, Leyte, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.
The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council recorded no major incident except for flooded streets, fallen trees and busted electric transformers.
