Qube Gallery Presents A Southern Exposures Series: EXISTENCE

Published

On August 4, 2014 6pm, Qube Gallery will present EXISTENCE: A Southern Exposure Series. The exhibit will be composed of artists from Iligan City’s TINTA Artists and Cagayan De Oro’s Memento Group.

The story of TINTA Artists began in 2006. In one of the country’s most prestigious art competitions, five (5) artist contestants from Iligan came up with the idea of organizing an art group solely for their city. They envisioned a group that can help enhance each other’s artistic expertise, and at the same time provide a home for them as artists, as well as other interested young ones.

After several meetings, these artists came up with a name for the group — TINTA Artists of Iligan. The word “tintâ” (ink) was used to represent the group’s core members. They believe “tintâ” (ink) is the basic element they use as artists to express their thoughts and ideas.

TINTA Artists of Iligan began with members who are visual artists. However, since it began, TINTA embraced artists from other art genres as well. TINTA now have a multitude of members interested in visual art, photography, sculpture, creative writing and music.
The Cebu visual art scene rarely gets to see artists and artworks from Iligan and Cagayan De Oro. So don’t miss out on the event, head on to Qube Gallery at the Henry Hotel, One Paseo, Ma. Luisa Rd., Banilad, Cebu City on August 4, Monday at 6pm and join the exhibit opening.
