Quarantine Facilities Solution to Decongest Cebu City Hospitals

Published

on

As the City of Cebu continues to be under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until July 15, authorities strongly believe that quarantine facilities and proper COVID-19 isolation management are the solutions to help decongest the hospitals in the city.

Cebu City, the only place in the country to remain under ECQ, has a total of 5,596 cases, of which 2,519 are active cases, 2,897 total recoveries and 180 total deaths. On July 1, Cebu City reported 107 new cases.

“Kailangan natin i-enhance ‘yung ating system para maiwasan ang pagdiretso ng tao sa hospitals. Mayroon tayong Barangay Isolation Centers (BICs) and quarantine facilities. Kapag naayos natin ito, tiyak ang pagdecongest ng hospitals,” said Melquiades Feliciano, assistant of Cebu coronavirus management overseer Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu.

Medical staff and other health workers will be assigned to serve the patients in those mentioned facilities.

Meanwhile, the rapid increase of police and military force in the city has also become an issue amid the pandemic.

He pointed out that the military is doing their best to comply with their duty, to strictly enforce the protocols made under ECQ.

“Medikal ang issue na ito. Doctors ang authority. Nandito lamang po ang military to support the health workers in the prevention of spread and management of patients,” Feliciano said.

Meanwhile, Feliciano and the rest of their team believes that as long as the protocols will be executed properly, the situation in Cebu City will improve very soon. (MLC)
