PYAP to Mark 44th Year, Sets Series of Activities
The Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) will hold its 44th founding anniversary tomorrow, July 28, and on July 29, with series of activities that aims to further promote group consciousness and well-being among the disadvantaged members of the youth sector.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) focal person on Youth Affairs Christian John Tanduyan said federation officers and members from towns and cities of Cebu Province are expected to attend the program.
PYAP is geared towards the holistic development of the disadvantaged youth in terms of physical, socio-economic, psychological, cultural and spiritual development.
Originally established in July 1974, the group aims to promote the development of the out-of-school youth (OSY) and other disadvantaged youth to become self-reliant, economically productive and socially responsible citizens.
Tanduyan said that aside from OSYs, PYAP also helps in-school youth, drug dependents and those whose parents were drug dependent or subjected to the law enforcement’s Tokhang operation.
Participants can expect to get insights during the passion session, a discussion gathering that will be given by motivational speakers that include Capitol Human Resource Management Head Bonifer “Bhobby” Nacorda and Department of Interior and Local Government 7 (DILG) Provincial Director Jerome Gonzales.
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale are also expected to grace the event.
Among the highlights of the event is the Paglaum film festival, which showcases the success stories of PYAP members. Paglaum stands for Pag-asa alang sa Gugmang Malambuon.
PYAP is an affiliate organization of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). (CEBU GOV’T)
