PWD’s to Receive Cash Assistance on April 18, Seniors to Follow

Each of the 10,071 Persons with Disabilities (PWD’s) in Cebu City will receive an initial P1,000 of their annual cash assistance for this year this coming April 18.

Before Mayor Michael Rama left for his official trip to South Korea last week he directed City Treasurer Diwa Cuevas to distribute P1,000 to each of the PWD’s that are registered with the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS).

Since the City Council had appropriated P5,000 to each of the registered PWD’s in Cebu City for this year, the remaining balance of P4,000 will be released to the beneficiaries within the year, Cuevas said.

“Tag one thousand pesos ra ang gi-order ni mayor nga ipa-release, apan basin og papun-an pa kini niya kun mobalik na siya next week,” said the city treasurer.

DSWS head Ester Concha said that the PWD cash assistance will be distributed to the barangays to make it easy for the beneficiaries to collect their cash aid.

After the release of the initial PWD cash assistance, Mayor Rama will also announce the date of the next distribution of the senior citizens cash assistance, but he refused to say how much the amount to be released.

“Amo pa kana’ng estoryahan sa city treasurer. Basta money matters gani, mangonsulta g’yud ta sa city treasurer kun pila ang available nga pundo,” the mayor said.

But the city treasurer said that her office has already prepared the payroll for the granting of P2,000 cash assistance to each of the close to 60,000 senior citizens in Cebu City.

A total of P720 million has been allocated for the 60,000 senior citizens in the city for this year, meaning that each of the accredited senior citizens is entitled to receive P12,000 or P1,000 every month.

“Kay nakahatag na man ang city og initial nga P1,000 kaniadto’ng February, unya dia pa man kita sa first week sa April, bali three thousand pa ang hatagan sa city mao nga nagpaandam lang ko og ‘tag P2,000 sa payrol,” Cuevas explained.
