There will be at least three holidays for the whole month of February this year.

February 16 Friday will be a special non-working holiday in the entire country for the Chinese New Year celebration which is the start of the “Year of the Earth Dog” in the Chinese Lunar Calendar which will last until the Lunar New Year’s Eve on February 4, 2019.

Meanwhile, on February 24 Saturday it will be a special non-working holiday in the City of Cebu for its 81st Charter Day commemoration pursuant to the Republic Act 7287.

For the uninformed, it was on February 24, 1937, when the City of Cebu was born by virtue of Commonwealth Act No.58. The then Municipality of Cebu who was under the Cebu Provincial Government became an independent Chartered City known as “Cebu City”.

Another holiday will be on February 25 Sunday as it will be the 32nd Anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution which is declared as a special non-working holiday throughout the country by virtue of Presidential Proclamation number 1071.
