PRRD Gives Financial Assistance to 15 Former Rebels
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his camp visit to 803rd “peacemaker” Brigade, Philippine Army, Camp Juan Ponce Sumoroy, Catarman, Northern Samar Samar on Tuesday, distributed financial assistance to 15 former rebels under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
The President personally handed over the P85,000.00 financial assistance to the three former rebels.
The amount covers the immediate assistance of P15,000.00, livelihood assistance of P50,000.00, and fire arms remuneration of P20,000.00 while the 12 others received P15,000.00 each as immediate assistance.
The 12 former rebels will soon receive their livelihood assistance and firearms remuneration (depending on the valuation of the firearms surrendered) as soon as their documents will be approved by the Joint-AFP-PNP Intelligence Committee (JAPIC).
Meanwhile, the other 15 also received P15,000.00 cash from the President and another P5,000.00 each from the Modified Conditional Cash Transfer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
On top of the benefits they received from E-CLIP, the President then promised to give a 2.5 hectares land each from the Department of Agrarian Reform (dar) and a tractor as well as crops and fertilizers for them to start a new life.
E-CLIP seeks to contribute towards achieving permanent and peaceful closure of all armed conflicts with non-state groups as well as facilitate the mainstreaming of former rebels who were members of the CNN and the MB as productive citizens.(NBQ/TBC/PIA-8, Northern Samar)
