IMG_2597 (1)The land is an alienable and disposable suitable for agroforestry. And since it is good for that purpose, the province provided kape and cacao (cash crops) and the acacia auricoliformis to provide shading.
The latter can also be used for fuel wood, a good substitute for mangrove and other endemic species that are usually used as fuel.
Compostela Municipal Administrator, Teodoro Cagang, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Province for choosing them as partner for this year’s tree planting activity.
According to Cagang, the seedlings, once these become fully grown trees, would help them protect their rolling terrain from erosion.
PDRRMO Head, Baltazar S. Tribunalo, encouraged the locality to take care of the planted seedlings. He emphasized that trees would not just lessen soil erosion but keep the oxygen cycle going, a must for breathing.
“Wa mi nagduha duha sa pag apil aning pananum karon adlawa kay daku ning tabang sa amo-a puhon.”, one of the residents said.
The Provincial Tree Planting Day is also the Province’s mitigating measure to conserve and safeguard natural land forest and other resources. (PENRO Correspondent: Timi-Lou Q. Manalili)
