Provincial Investment Office Helps Grow Enterprises in Balamban Town
In pursuit of Governor Hilario P. Davide III’s development agenda for countryside development, the Cebu Provincial Investment and Promotions Office (CPIPO) recently conducted an orientation seminar on the Barangay Micro Business Enterprise Act (BMBE) 2002 to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Balamban town.
CPIPO underscores the significant role of MSMEs with this initiative to promote the ease of doing business and easy facilitation of services to MSMEs especially in the countryside as well as provide an enabling environment for entrepreneurs to flourish and scale-up their business.
In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Negosyo Center Balamban, the orientation discussed the eligibility requirements and incentives of BMBE granted to registered MSMEs.
The “BMBE Act of 2002” encourages the formation and growth of barangay micro business enterprises by granting them incentives and other benefits.
“Karon pa man ko kabaw na naay BMBE Act 2002. Thank you Ma’am, Sir,” said Gloria Jean Villaflor, proprietor of J & B Septic & Allied Services.
Previously assigned to the local government units through the municipal treasurer’s office, processing of BMBE registration is now being handled by DTI by virtue of R.A. 10644 otherwise known as the “Go Negosyo Act.”
“(We) hope naay next batch of BMBE Act orientation diri sa Balamban kay daghan pa gusto makahibaw unsa ning BMBE,” said Rose Sasing, president of Balamban Public Market Vendors Association and Marte Electrical Supply.
The orientation also provided MSMEs owners business counseling and the chance to meet with other stakeholders and government officials.
It was also attended by Balamban’s municipal treasurer Ms. Christina Miel, municipal accountant, BPLO officers, LEIPO, micro, medium and small enterprises, academe, small entrepreneurs and barangay officials. (CIPO)
