Protect Your Skin! Practice Makeup Sanitation

Published

on

Most women tend to overlook an important factor when they start or as they go along with using cosmetics. Sanitation is vital for everyone, most specifically us women, who regularly use our makeup, especially when we just lent our best girlfriend our lipstick because she forgot hers at home.

It won’t be safe to use our newly bought pressed powder or blush for the rest of the year if we don’t religiously practice cleanliness!

Here are quick tips to ensure we won’t endanger ourselves with harmful bacteria.

Needs:

  • 70% solution rubbing alchohol
  • An automizer/ empty spray bottle (to contain the rubbing alchohol)
  • Your makeup sharpener

For powder face products (i.e. face powder, blush and eyeshadow)

Spray directly onto product. Don’t worry about the hardening of the powder as alchohol evaporates quickly.

For cream products (i.e. cream blushes, lipsticks)

Again, spray directly onto the product and wait for 10 seconds. After that, lightly wipe of the surface with a clean piece of tissue paper.

For pencils (i.e. eyeliner, lip liners)

Always sharpen your pencil products after use! Doing this regularly shaves off the bacteria on the surface of the product.

Unfortunately, mascara and lip products with a wand/sponge applicator (i.e. lipgloss) cannot be sanitized. Makeup artists usually use disposable applicators when they work on clients. But for ordinary girls like us, my best advice is to never share these products! Since the contents of their containers are liquid, it is the best breeding ground for bacteria. Always remember, cleanliness will never go out of style.
