PRO7 Assures not to Condon Police Scalawags
The Police Regional Office (PRO)7 officials assured they cannot afford to have police scalawags here in the region.
“We cannot afford to have such kind of policemen here in the region, we are at the same time not to condon police lifestyle, but of course we have to get rid all of them”, PSSupt. Conrado S. Capa Deputy Regional Director for Operations, of PRO7 said.
Capa, was the proxy of PRO7 Regional Director PCSUPT Prudencio Tom T. Bañas during the 78th Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis, a monthly activity usually attended by all chiefs of police and their representatives in Metro Cebu areas at their PRO7 headquarters along Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.
Based on records, since 2012 until 2014, there were at least 6 police scalawags in region 7 who were criminally charged due to various offenses they were facing.
Capa said, of the six, 3 were already suspended, 1 was dismissed, 1 was demoted, while the case of another one is still pending.
Capa also added that two of these policemen were from Cebu and all of them were involved in extortion, illegal drugs, illegal gambling and other vices which upon investigation, they were found positive to the charges that were filed against them.
According to Capa they are not at all times notice how their policemen performed their respective tasks in the field.
“That’s why we are always asking the public and the media to help us in watching our policemen to make them real peace and order officer and true idol for good works”, Capa said.
He said this could be done by proper reporting to their headquarters any police member who are found to be abusive of their duty.
Asked about the surging of illegal drugs cases in the region particularly in Cebu province, Capa said they are doing everything, the reason why there were so many arrests they made, and various charges they have filed too in local courts.
Capa also said they are really lack of manpower and they cannot all the time know where these illegal drug dealers are hiding, the reason they are always asking the public to help them in this aspect.
“This could be done again through their proper reporting to our office 24 hours a day and seven days a week”, Capa said.
