PRO-7 Ready for School Opening

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is now ready to secure all schools and students on the opening of classes and will be on heightened alert this June 1, 2014.

Police Senior Supt. Orlando Domingo Ualat, OIC PRO-7 Regional Director made the declaration on Wednesday morning during the 74th Talakayan sa Isyung Polis (TSIP) Forum.

Ualat also said he already directed all provincial police directors of Central Visayas to prepare their forces in their respective localities starting June 2, 2014 school opening. Ualat said every police chief on the Balik Eskwela program in the Provincial, city and municipality level are also ordered to coordinate with respective school superintendents as to when their school opening starts.

Aware on the different school openings from the elementary , secondary and tertiary levels on all government school institutions, the PRO-7 OIC chief explained that each police director will see to it that all levels of classes will have an equal number of police personnel to be assigned during the first day of classes.

As already scheduled, government schools will open on June 2 for its elementary level, June 9, for high school, and June 16 for college or universities.

Police Supt. Alet Virtucio, who proxied PSSupt Nole A. Romana, chief of the Cebu City Police Office during the program, hinted that of the 95 schools in Cebu City, he will assign enough numbers of policemen to man each school during the school openings.

Virtucio said that aside from the uniformed policemen, they will also deploy police who wear civilian clothes.

Barangay tanods as well as other force multipliers from the barangay level will also be assigned to their respective barangay school togetner with the uniformed policemen.

The police assistance desk will also be set up in each school.

Virtucio added that they will not allow lawless elements to display their wares during this busy day for all students.

Police Sr. Supt. Petronelli M. Baldebrin, chief of the Mandaue City Police Office said that out of the 38 private and government schools in Mandaue, he will assign 73 policemen to watch the school children and to man traffic sections in the city.

While Police Supt. Jonathan Abella of the Lapulapu City Police Office during the TSIP activities said that of the 54 schools in Lapulapu City, he will assign 59 policemen to watch over the students.

Police Supt. Ricky P. Delelis, chief on operations of the Cebu Provincial Police Office said that there are more than 1,800 schools in the province and they will deploy more than 300 policemen to secure all students who will attend the first day of classes.

Each police director also committed to give priority of placing more number of policemen in areas which are already prone to various crime incidents.
