PRO-7 Names Cebu City Anti-drug Body Best in Central Visayas
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has named the Cebu City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) as the most outstanding anti-drug abuse council in Central Visayas.
Barangay Labangon, Cebu City also received the same recognition in the barangay category.
For the municipality category, Tubigon in Bohol got the award.
The award was given to the city during the culmination activity of the Anti-Drug Abuse Prevention Week by PRO 7.
CADAC chairman lawyer Clarence Paul Oaminal said Cebu City bested other local government units whose anti-drug abuse councils are not functional.
“It doesn’t mean that because there’s a drug problem in the city it can’t receive the award. It is also checked if their anti-drug abuse council is working,” Oaminal said.
Oaminal said PRO-7 evaluated all the activities and programs of CADAC if it qualifies for the award.
He said CADAC has clear programs and policies through the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP).
COSAP, which is headed by Dr. Alice Utlang, has been conducting random and surprise drugs tests in City Hall and in the barangays to encourage employees to stay clean.
Cadac and COSAP also plan to give recognition to drug-free barangays, or those who don’t have any employee who tested positive during drug tests.
One of the barangays declared as a drug-free workplace is Pulangbato, a hinterland barangay. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
