PRO-7 Admits No Way to Control Illegal Drugs
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 authorities on Thursday admitted there is no way to control illegal drugs but advised everybody to support the police on its campaign against illegal drugs.
Police Sr. Supt. Edward E. Carranza Regional Chief of the Directorial Staff of PRO7 said the police are doing its best to control the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.
“We conduct regularly police check points, buy bust operations and other risky efforts but still sad to note that the bad things are still there”, Carranza said.
The police have already sent number of illegal drug pushers, dealers and even druglords to jail with millions of pesos worth of confiscated drugs.
“But still after a short lull, the illegal activities are still back to normal,” he said.
The police official asked the people to support them by religiously reporting any sightings of people in a drug den, and any people who go into drug pushing and peddling.
At the same time Carranza also urge every body to monitor their neighbors who might be the source of the illegal drug materials such as shabu, marijuana and others.
“Who knows that a shabu laboratory is just around the corner and happens to be your neighbor” he jokingly said.
Regarding the adoption of “market denial” system, Carranza said this is a good strategy if ‘everybody is not a drug user’.
“We can see shabu users anytime, so market denial is not an effective way of totally cutting off this vice”, Carranza added.
He reiterated that the police authorities are doing its best to curve the illegal drug activities here but no assurance how and when this problem may come to its total stop.
