President Duterte Says Malacañang Open to Corruption Complaints

The gates of Malacañang will be open to complaints on corrupt government practices, President Rodrigo R. Duterte said during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.

“For all those with a good reason to complain about graft and corruption, the gates of Malacanang will be open,” Duterte told audiences at the Batasan Pambansa Complex at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

“Magsumbong kayo (Let us know),” he said.

Duterte vowed to run a “101 percent clean” government but said that it will only be beyond his control.

“The problem is I can only act through agencies and departments. I act through secretaries and I cannot guarantee their honesty and competence at all times,” he said.

The President has time and again reiterated his call to end corrupt practices and vowed to punish government officials who will be caught red-handed. (PNA) LAM/ANP
