President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Tuesday, July 31, enjoined the National Security Council (NSC) and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) to help his administration in ensuring a more progressive country for the next generation.

He graced the joint 68th NSC and 69th NICA founding anniversary that was held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

“We will see to it that the nation that we hand over to the next generation of Filipinos is one that is more stable, harmonious, and progressive,” he said.

“Together, let us continue to make great strides as we collectively bring our country towards a safer and brighter tomorrow,” he added.

The President was accompanied by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Officer-in-Charge Eduardo Año, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., and Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza.

Also present at the event were Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Carlito Galvez Jr., National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Director General Alex Monteagudo, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Dante Jimenez, and former President Fidel Ramos.

Military, police to use seized luxury vehicles

Meanwhile, Duterte announced that he will donate to the military and to the police some of the vehicles that were seized in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

“Now meron doon na hindi ko ipinasira. Iyong vans pati ‘yung Hummer,” he said in his speech.

The Chief Executive led on Monday, July 30, the public condemnation of 68 luxury sedans and eight high-end motorcycles at Port Irene in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

“Nung sinabi ni Atty. Lambino, ‘May Hummer tayo diyan.’ How many? I’m sure I heard more than 10. I could not exactly remember what was the figure. But I said do not destroy it because I’ll give it to the military and the police for their use,” he said.

On the other hand, the local governments in Cagayan will receive the seized vans, according to the President.

“Tapos ‘yung mga vans, because they are within the vicinity of the local governments, Cagayan ‘yan eh. Eh ‘di paghati-hatian na lang nila doon kung aabot,” he said.

“But sabi ko doon kay Lambino, ‘You write me a letter.’ And he said, ‘That’s already in your office.’ So ibigay ko ‘yan, Hummer,” the President further said. (PND)
