Popcom Lauds Provincial Gov’t for Family-Oriented Programs

The Province of Cebu has been lauded by the Commission on Population (Popcom) 7 for the initiatives geared towards empowered families.

Popcom 7 awarded the Province of Cebu as the Most Outstanding Province “for creating and maintaining a local population office with appointed/designated Population officer and staff actively contributing to the implementation of the Philippine Population Management Program.”

Also, a Certificate of Recognition was awarded to Gov. Hilario P. Davide III for his “exemplary performance in legislation and development initiatives, centered on population dynamics.”

Popcom stated that such initiatives of the governor and of the Provincial Government are commended as it has integrated into the local government’s projects and activities the program components on Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP), Adolescent Heath and Development (AHD), and Population and Development (PopDev) integration, with the goal of enabling well, planned, happy, and empowered Filipino families.

The head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Marivic Garces, received the awards from Popcom 7 and turned it over to Davide on November 17.
