Pop Star Madonna Visits Cuba to Celebrate Birthday
Havana — Pop star Madonna Monday started a two-day surprise visit to Cuba to celebrate her 58th birthday, accompanied by her children, family and close friends.
Madonna arrived in the Cuban capital city of Havana on a private flight at around 5:00 p.m. local time (2200 GMT) and drove into the city in a caravan of classic American convertible cars.
The famous US singer and actress will enjoy a “big party” with Cuban rhythms, dances and flavors on Tuesday and will visit important historical and cultural sites in Havana.
The popular singer began her birthday celebrations a few days ago in Africa, where she danced with local people and enjoyed different rituals.
Cuba has become a popular destination for US celebrities after Washington and Havana re-established diplomatic relations last year.
Other celebrities like the Rolling Stones, Kanye West, the Kardashian sisters, Paris Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce and Rihanna have also visited the island. (PNA/Xinhua) BNB/SSC
