(Public Information Office) Following the Sinulog 2015 celebration for the Feasts of Santo Niño de Cebú, a pool of candles was observed at the Kiosk of Magellan’s Cross located at the Plaza Sugbo fronting Cebu City Hall.

The pool of candles including some petitions and money which filled the Kiosk of Magellan’s Cross is coming from thousands of Devotees and Pilgrims of the Holy Child with its festivity held every 3rd Sunday of January and falls last January 18 this year.
Furthermore, the Magellan’s Cross is known as one of the most important heritage sites in this Queen City of the South. It is believed to be planted by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan on April 14, 1521 when he baptized the first Christian Filipinos, Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana.

Looking back, the historical landmark which symbolizes that Cebu is the Cradle of Christianity in Asia was also affected by the 7.2 magnitude October 15, 2013 earthquake. To date it undergoes rehabilitation and repair. (Greggy Jiggs P. Senados, PIO Staff)
