Police Probes on Arigo Shooting
Police probers are still investigating the shooting and wounding of radio block-timer Apolinario Arigo Jr., popularly known in the airlanes as “Jun Arigo” at the parking area of SM City in North Reclamation Area (NRA) on Thursday afternoon.
Initial investigation conducted by the responding policemen showed that the 48-year old radio commentator had just left the mall and was about to board his vehicle when an unidentified gunman attacked him.
Armed with still undetermined caliber and type of firearm, the gunman shot Arigo hitting the him in his thigh while the bullet exited to his buttocks.
Although he was already wounded, Arigo intentionally dropped himself to the pavement and hid, which prompted the gunman to ran away toward a waiting motorcycle.
Arigo is known to be a hard-hitting radio blocktime commentator attacking politicians and other individuals.
“Amo pa nga susihon kon kinsa ang mga tawo nga giatake ni Jun Arigo sa iyang kumentaryo sa radyo nga posible nga maoy nasuko kaniya og maoy nanugo og buot mopatay niya,” one of the police investigators said.
Republic Act 10591, the new Firearms Law that amended Republic Act 8294, identified the accredited members of the media as among the people entitled to possess and carry guns because of the nature of their jobs.
