PNP to Hold Rights-related Activities on Human Rights Day
The Philippine National Police will hold human rights-related activities in time for the celebration of the International Human Rights Day on December 10.
GMA News Online reported that the PNP activities will start on Dec. 4, with the theme “Mamamayan at Pamahalaan Kapit-Bisig sa Pagsulong ng Karapatan sa Kaunlaran.”
The activities include Multi-sectoral dialogue, inspection of lock-up cells, visit(s) to orphanage(s), barangay seminar(s) for human rights and bloodletting are included in the line-up of activities,” it said.
The PNP observance of Human Rights Day will culminate on December 10 with a “Caravan for Human Rights and Access to Justice.” It will start at Quirino Grandstand in Manila at 1 p.m. and end at the fountain area of the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City at 4 p.m.
Part of the program is the signing of the Declaration of Commitment to establish the National Monitoring Mechanism on Cases of Extra-Judicial Killings, Enforced Disappearance, and Torture by the Heads of concerned agencies, report said.
