The provincial police office has ordered all municipal police stations to reactivate “Cops on the Block” and “Cops on School” posts for the opening of School Year  2018-2019.

Acting Police Provincial Director P/SSupt. David Peredo Jr said this is in line with the nationwide “Oplan Balik Eskwela” to ensure safety of students on the opening of classes in public schools in June.

For schools that are far from the city proper, the police has sought assistance from barangay officials in the assignment of barangay tanods for the job.

Part of the police “Balik Eskwela” operation includes direction of traffic near schools considering the volume of pupils and students on these sites.

As safety call, the police appealed to drivers to properly observe traffic rules and discipline especially when approaching school zones.

Peredo also disclosed that the police has intensified its ‘Oplan Double Barrel Re-loaded’ against drugs pushers who may target schools.

The campaign against illegal drugs in the province is still on high alert towards a drug-free Kalinga. (ALT/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
