PNP All Set For May 13 Polls
The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Cebu City and Cebu Province are now ready to maintain peace and order in the upcoming midterm elections on May 13.
Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Col. Manuel Abrugena said that their force is ready to be deployed to every polling precinct.
However, Abrugena admitted that their number is not enough to implement the “2 policemen per polling precinct” order from their superior.
Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-7 (PRO7) and Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) provided them augmentation with around 2,000 policemen to be deployed in Cebu Province.
500 force multipliers will also help to maintain peace and order.
On the other hand, CCPO Speaker Police Captain Arieza Otida said that for now they don’t need any additional police force.
“For the election preparation, we can say that the Cebu City Police Office is 100 percent ready,” Otida said.
Even though Cebu City is only on the yellow category on the Election Watchlist Areas, the PNP will still conduct checkpoints to ensure safety. (MLC)
