PNoy Declares July 29 a Holiday for Eid’l Fitr

Manila (PNA) — President Benigno S. Aquino III has issued Proclamation No. 826 declaring July 29 as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr, of the Feast of Ramadan.

The President said the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr.

The feast is celebrated by the Muslim world for three days after the end of the month of fasting.

“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Tuesday, 29 July 2014, as a regular holiday throughout the country,” President Aquino said. (PNA) LAM/LDV
