PNoy Assures to Strengthen National Economy
President Benigno S. Aquino III last Sunday challenged Filipinos to pursue the gains made by his administration when he steps down in 2016, even as he assured that good governance and economic progress will be strengthened in the remainder of his term.
He said that government institutions will be further strengthened, and more corrupt officials will be held accountable, even as the economy continues to grow and the lives of the people improve.
He recalled the hardships and sacrifices that led to these positive changes in the country, resulting in a nation resurrected from abuse and hopelessness.
The President said the challenge now is for everyone to pursue the righteous path that Christ had shown.
(Let us treasure the opportunity given to us to rid ourselves of evil so that we can reach God’s dwelling place. In the face of tests, hardships or even in better times, may we live by Christ’s great teaching: to do what is right, to love and care for one another.)
He said these virtues led the country out of darkness. Thus, trust in government was restored, and justice no longer served the whims of the economically and politically powerful.
The President said that Filipinos should preserve and build on the gains of the Administration, even after his ends in 2016. (It is our duty to continue what we have begun, and make permanent the positive transformation of Philippine society).
