Playlist Transfers from Apple Music to YouTube Music Now Possible
Apple Music subscribers can now transfer their playlists over to YouTube Music.
This marks a development in seamless subscription to multiple music streaming platforms as Apple has previously been resistant to allowing such transfers to competing music streaming services. YouTube Music is the first platform to benefit from this new feature, offering users a convenient way to migrate their playlists without manual effort.
However, there are some limitations, as only songs available on YouTube Music can be transferred, meaning podcasts and audiobooks cannot be migrated.
Moreover, curated or non-collaborative shared playlists, music files, and folders created in Apple Music cannot be transferred.
Users must have an active Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription and a YouTube Music account to transfer playlists. The process involves logging into Apple’s Data and Privacy page, selecting “Transfer a copy of your data,” then following the instructions.
Transfer times may vary depending on the number of playlists being migrated, ranging from from a few minutes to a few hours.
Still no love for Spotify
While YouTube Music is the first platform to allow direct playlist transfers from Apple Music, users still cannot transfer playlists to other music streaming services like Spotify. Apple has not yet introduced native tools for this purpose. (GFB)
