The operating elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) have destroyed about PHP 5.3 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants and seedlings as they swept in two sitios in two barangays during an eradication operation in the province of Benguet, a PDEA official said on Wednesday.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that during the operation held on September 21-24, 2015, the operating team was able to uproot 21,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 29,500 marijuana seedlings with a total worth of P5,380,000 in 12 plantation sites covering a total of 4,008 square meters.
He said the marijuana plants and seedlings were destroyed on the site and no cultivator was arrested during the operation.
The combined elements of PDEA–Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR) under Director Juvenal B. Azurin and Bakun Municipal Police Station swept two sitios in Nagawa and Saleng, in Barangay Kayapa and Bakun, Benguet where the marijuana plants and seedlings were cultivated.
“We continue to remind the public to stay away from illegal drugs and to remain vigilant against the proliferation of illegal drugs in your respective community.” Cacdac said. (PNA) CTB/CLTC
