Php 36-M projects for Tudela

Governor Hilario P. Davide III inspected last October 20 Php 22 million worth of major projects and equipment given to the municipality of Tudela. Held at the municipal gym, Governor Davide turned over one (1) unit of backhoe (Php 4 million), four (4) small farm tractors (Php 600,000) and one corn mill (Php 100,000) to the town.

The governor also inspected the ongoing construction of infrastructure projects in Tudela including the Php 15 million Tudela farm-to-market road (FMR) in Barangay Hermosa.

The FMR will make mobility of farm products in Tudela faster. The road connects to Puertobello Port, a gateway to Pilar town, which is situated in a separate island.

On the other side, the FMR also provides another link from Tudela to the municipality of Poro via Barangay Esperanza.

The Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) also constructed a trading center in Barangay Hermosa worth Php 500,000.

Students in Puertobello Elementary School were also thankful to the governor for the two (2) classrooms school building worth Php 1.2 million.

Vice Mayor Greeman Solante said their classroom-student ratio in the school is far from ideal. He said 90 pupils in grade 6 are sharing one classroom.

The construction of two classrooms would now give their grade six pupils three classrooms.

The projects were either Capitol-implemented or by the municipal government through the funds downloaded by the Capitol.

The governor also visited what was previously a wharf and now a Roro Port in Barangay Puertobello.

Mayor Erwin Yu was very thankful with the financial aid from the governor. He said from the governor’s assumption in 2013, the town already received Php 36 million financial aid in a series of resolutions.

He said they were able to buy ambulance, secure irrigation projects, among others.

He said the savings from the financial aid contributed to the construction of the Roro ramp.

“When the MB Kim Nirvana sank in the waters of Ormoc City, I requested Jomalia Shipping to sail a Roro vessel between the seas of mainland Camotes to Pilar, and Pilar to Ormoc, and vice versa. But at that time we didn’t have a Roro port, that is why we built a ramp here,” he said.

The total project cost is Php 1.3 million. Yu said this was taken out from their savings on other projects, where the contract cost is less than the appropriated cost.

Jomalia provides a round trip daily from Puertobello, Tudela to Pilar to Ormoc City and then back to Pilar and Tudela.

Governor Davide was in the mainland of Camotes to turnover agri-fishery rehab inputs and corn and vegetable seeds to the typhoon Yolanda and El Nino affected farmers in Pilar, Poro, San Francisco, and Tudela.
