PHL Embassy in Israel Issues Emergency Warning for Filipinos Amid Hostilities
Manila (PNA) — The Philippine government has called in Filipinos in Israel to take precautionary measures amid escalation of hostilities between Tel Aviv and Palestine in the Gaza strip and its surrounding areas.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said no Filipino was reported injured or killed in the three-day air raids by Israel in Gaza, which Palestinian officials said has killed scores, including children.
There are at least 100 Filipinos married to Palestinians in Gaza, while an estimated 40,000, working mostly as caregivers, are based in Israel.
With the resumption of conflict between the two sides, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv has issued an emergency advisory on July 8, asking the Filipino community in Israel to avoid crowded places which may be possible targets of attacks, and to heed the safety advisories issued by local and national Israeli authorities.
For concerns and emergencies, Filipinos can contact the embassy’s emergency hotline number at 054-466-1188.
In the meantime, the DFA said it will continue to closely monitor the security situation in Israel. (PNA) LGI/MDC/UTB
