PHL Declares Alert Level 2 in Israel, West Bank; Tells OFWs to Prepare for Evacuation
Manila (PNA) — The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday declared alert level 2 for Israel and the West Bank, citing threats to security posed by the continued conflict between Israel and the Hamas militants.
Under this phase, Filipinos are instructed to restrict non-essential movements, avoid open spaces, and prepare for evacuation due to escalating armed hostilities.
“Alert Level 2 is issued when there are real threats to the life, security, and property of Filipinos arising from internal disturbance, instability, and external threats,” a DFA statement said.
There are 36,000 Filipinos in Israel, working mostly as caregivers or household helpers.
Over in Palestinian-controlled Gaza, alert level 4 or mandatory repatriation is being enforced for the remaining 100 Filipinos there, comprised of women and children.
“The DFA continues to closely monitor developments in the Israel-Hamas conflict,” the DFA said. (PNA) CTB/MDC/JSD
