Philippines Storm-Free Until End Of The Month
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday the country will remain storm-free in the next three days.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Buddy Javier said the agency has not seen any weather disturbance near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) that may develop into tropical cyclone within the next three days or until the end of the month.
He said the agency expect zero to one tropical cyclone to affect the country this month and for the month of April.
Meanwhile, Javier said that most parts of the country will experience fair weather except in some parts of Luzon due to two weather systems affecting the country.
He said that the tail-end of a cold front is now affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the northeast monsoon prevails over Northern Luzon.
The tail-end of a cold front is the front boundary of two air masses, which produces clouds and rain.
For Monday forecast, the tail end of cold front will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Bicol region and the province of Quezon while cloudy skies with light rains will be experienced over Cagayan Valley region.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains is expected over the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and Central Luzon while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The state-run weather bureau also issued a gale warning due to the effects of northeast monsoon as the sea condition would be rough to very rough due to strong to gale force winds is expected to affect the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon and eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon.
“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned.
It added moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
