Members of the Philippine National Pool scored 1-2-3 finish in Women’s ASEAN chess and almost repeated it in women’s random chess, except for the first runner-up finish in that latter event by a Pangasinan lass in the national championships of the Philippine National Games (PNG) at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) in Lingayen.

Women Fide Master Cherry Ann Mejia of host Pangasinan, with ILO rating of 1972, bagged the silver in women’s random chess although she scored similar four points against the higher rated Woman International Master Jamelle Mae Frayna (ILO 2285) of the national pool who bagged the gold.

Another Philippine Team member Woman Fide Master Marie Antoninette San Diego (2109) also scored four points and got a silver.

Winners in the women’s ASEAN chess were all members of the national pool who included Woman International Master Catherine Secopita (2135)’ gold; Woman Fide Master Marie Antoninette San Diego (2109), silver, and Woman International Master Janele Mae Frayna (2285), bronze. (PNA) LAP/LVM/LVMICUA/RMA
