Philippine Men’s Ice Hockey Team Wins in a Shootout Versus Chinese Taipei, 3-2

Steven Fugilister and Carlo Montano on Thursday night kept the winning form of Team Pilipinas with their 3-2 shootout victory over Chinese Taipei U20 in the Open category of the Philippine International Ice Hockey Tournament at the SM Megamall .

Team Pilipinas back-to-back triumphs powered their entry to the quarterfinals of the event organized by Philippine Federation of Ice Hockey Incorporated (PFIHI).

We had a slow start, but as the game progressed, our momentum picked up and we played better,” said Fugilister, who broke and sparked Team Pilipinas’ sterling performance.

But Su Pei Wei and Chang Han Nuan combined their efforts to tie the score at 2-2.

Both teams were tied at 2-all at the end of the 36-minute regulation period in the event supported by SM and Flying V.

Fugilister, the team skipper, lifted his Team Pilipinas by shooting the first of three penalty shots. Teammate Montano , the co-captain scored the second penalty shot .

It was a good game. The fighting spirit and speed of our players was a big factor,” said Chris Sy, president of the local ice hockey federation.
